October 29, 2009 13:13: question du jour | from Germany "Temenos T24 and TCB differences"? | the answer, again, is that they are as different as chalk and cheese. Different designs, different sources, different development and support organizations. A consensus response seems to be that T24 is a respected global market universal core banking solution, and TCB basically is not - TCB has never really lived up to expectations since it was adopted by Temenos as an IBM FSDM and IFW architected engine meant for driving a top tier retail banking platform (some say they called it 'next generation' because it might become a top solution in the next generation or so).

October 24, 2009 11:02: jot | Thailand's Government Savings Bank (GSB) has implemented a THB 1.1 billion core banking system based on an advanced version of the IBM platform already in use by Krung Thai Bank (KTB) [note: KTB use the FIS (Fidelity) Profile core banking system originally developed by Sanchez and listed as an open system supporting HP-UX, IBM-AIX, Sun-Solaris and Intel-Linux]. GSB was reported to be looking for a replacement core banking solution in June 2005, and it was understood a previous legacy system in use was the System Access Symbols bank core system (now Sungard). An option for GSB at the time was the Infosys Finacle core system as implemented with subsequent reported security issues at the Government Housing Bank (GHB). The new IBM-based system at GSB is said to connect all 600+ branches in Thailand and integrates multiple customer channels.

(Correction to previous post >) While Julius Baer Switzerland selected the Swiss Avaloq private banking system in 2004, according to updates cited recently, they gave up on that implementation subsequently in 2006.

The breakdown is based on increasing inquiries and visitor numbers overall (see table on the right) and reflects a shift because, as the numbers grow, there are more Consultants and SI's and Banks in the mix, and the number of Vendors has virtually peaked (though Vendor usage and visit traffic increases all the time). It is very satisfying to record growing and regular interest, and use of, our resources by Visitors from all over the globe. |
