March 30, 2009 18:58: Following up on a visitor's lookup for "Oracle core banking problems Canara Bank" today led to quite a mean recent article about the implementation of Flexcube on IBM at the said Indian commercial bank.

March 28, 2009 08:59: Yet another inquirer seeking comparison of "T24 vs Flexcube" today - this time from Riyadh | and from Port Moresby what could be a short-list for checking "icbs cmc profile".

March 27, 2009 21:22: The big Indian comparison request today was to "compare Finacle and BaNCS".

March 26, 2009 20:25: Noticed over the past week, more than usual (about 12) references in searches and inquiries to "globus" (and mostly just Globus, and not with T24).

March 26, 2009 12:42: From Laos today a pair of distinct inquiries from the same source looking for "temenos core banking ranking" and then "i-flex core banking".

March 21, 2009 19:10: A sequence of inquiries from an Hawaiian institution were recorded this past week all including variations on the same theme with search terms for "temenos corebanking".

March 21, 2009 17:57: A leading Asian banking group is in touch over the last few days and is actively looking for comparisons of Temenos T24 versus Oracle Flexcube versus SAP for Banking - for IBM zSeries by preference. Anybody want to help us help them with more updated points of comparison across functional and technical capabilities? | feedback...

March 20, 2009 21:05: We are being told that the anxiously awaited core banking system selection for a leading Vietnam bank, despite considerable invested time and effort so far, will again delay any decision for "months".

March 17, 2009 10:46: The USA inquiry requesting a "t24 and tcb comparison" might as well be asking to compare "chalk and cheese".

March 15, 2009 13:06: "it's only an indicator" | the "Top Ten" core banking system vendors table (actually a top 5, top 10, top 15 top vendors by iRank list) was updated separately as at 15/3/2009 to reflect movements so far this month.

March 14, 2009 16:25: Out of Adelaide, a weekend inquirer wanting to compare 'Finacle vs Hogan' (for what case, we don't know).

March 13, 2009 10:39: Twice so far this week we have seen references to rumours about Temenos, the latest inferring that something is going on between Oracle and Temenos. IBM seems to be an interested party. Last year it was a rumour about SAP. We will see.

March 12, 2009 15:39: Today from Pakistan an inquiry requesting a specific "ICBS and iflex comparison".

March 11, 2009 21:04: It seems the annual questioning of the well known Sales League table positions has started. A leading vendor inquired today about new client names added by Infrasoft Technologies with OMNIEnterprise core banking in 2008. The PR is out saying they are ranked number 3 in the table. Sorry, they have not told us either. We would expect they are mainly in cooperative banking in India, and Islamic banking in the Middle East and Africa. The majority of the international client names known previously were for AML basically.

March 8, 2009 19:33: An inquiry we noted on Sunday came from Nepal wanting a comparison of a pair we have handled quite a few times before, "Flexcube vs T24".

March 6, 2009 16:32: A comparison request just in from Singapore for an identified institution wanting Temenos T24 versus ERI Olympic.

March 6, 2009 10:02: A couple of 'new lookers' amongst the 'parties of interest' for core banking systems identified today | one bank from Indonesia, and the bank processing group from Iceland.

March 3, 2009 10:22: A visitor from NJ USA wants to "compare Temenos T24 and Polaris Intellect suite" | and from Mauritius, where Temenos was recently paying attention, this inquiry "a system called finnacle" [sic] found Infosys.

March 2, 2009 08:45: From Switzerland today we notice an inquiry after a comparison of "Avaloq versus Temenos". Not an "everyday" request.

March 1, 2009 11:28: "it's only an indicator" | iRanking WINNERS for February 2009 | Temenos is still Number 1 after another month of strong activity based on T24 | close behind again, Infosys at #2 stayed well clear of Oracle FS (formerly i-Flex) at #3 | Datapro hit #15 based on continued momentum and interest in e-IBS | new to the Top 40 is ICS up 7 places to #35 | and doing even better is AutoSoft up 13 positions to #27.

March 1, 2009 11:28: "it's only an indicator" | iRanking LOSERS for February 2009 | The top 50 is affected by and adjusting for the rise of some newer entries in the list, and Pexim has lost 9 places in the ranking and is down to #42 - the lowest they have been for over 6 months | while Tietoenator also fell 11 positions to their lowest place in over 6 months at #38 | and Bantotal by DLyA quietly slipped out of the rankings after many months in the Top 40.

February 28, 2009 15:30: Promosoft Financial and Odyssey Financial Technologies are both new and interesting entries in the core banking systems 'vendor of interest' listings with full-page summaries posted.

February 27, 2009 21:26: Just a note | that ABBA Software will be showing their unique brand of banking systems, including Netbanking, at CeBIT 2009 (3-8 Mar 2009 Hannover, Germany) on the Croatian export promotion stand.

February 26, 2009 08:07: It is gratifying that a Temenos T24 'interest' group on LinkedIn would share the link by email for the Temenos summary page in our resources. More people know about our unique and readily available resources now, and it generated a short-term 'spike' of many hundreds of extra visitors and visits for Temenos. It does not significantly affect or change the underlying iRank data, since the unique visitor count is recorded off manual analysis over longer periods. Other vendors have periodic promotions (anywhere, anytime, in any media) which similarly cause 'spikes' in the unique visitor count we record for them.

February 25, 2009 18:57: The single most frequent comparison requested this week is "Finacle vs Flexcube", with the odd "Finacle vs TCS BaNCS" and "Flexcube vs T24" thrown in.

February 24, 2009 18:20: Fiserv is rebranding all their financial services technology solutions after full integration of CheckFree's electronic commerce operations. The CBS and ICBS core banking products in particular are to be renamed 'Signature by Fiserv'.

February 24, 2009 8:47: What is the number one core banking system product globally? A popular question. The answer is not for today exactly, but for the future, and is based on the vendor iRanking data as an indicator of current interest and activity. The oracle might say Temenos T24, or Finacle or Flexcube. Their vendors are consistently in the top 3 . Today the iRank data indicates Temenos is on top. This could change next month. Last month it was Infosys. And Oracle i-Flex is always in consideration.

February 21, 2009 10:08: From Indonesia, a comparison inquiry that is not unusual for this part of the world | "silverlake vs temenos t24".

February 20, 2009 8:50: An interesting comparison request from Wisconsin USA received | "Silverlake Axis and Jack Henry system comparison" (silverlake versus silverlake?)

February 19, 2009 9:17: "ALA core banking" was today's inquiry from Halifax & Bank of Scotland | HBOS (UK) - could that be a round about way to look-up "A La Carte" the old name from Alnova, or else "New Core Banking Systems" of Alabama (AL)? They ended up looking at Oracle i-Flex and Temenos anyway.

February 18, 2009 11:11: One of those inquiries you see now and again - usually from a competitor and based on a scurrilous rumour - this time from an unidentified party out of Denmark of all places (where Blue Phoenix developers for Fidelity used to hang out) asking about "flexcube losing transactions".

February 17, 2009 22:09: We field the occasional inquiries for free and open source (= FOSS) or free/libre and open source (= FLOSS) core banking software. Now we have our first open source core banking application provider requesting to be listed as a 'vendor of interest' (see them mentioned in our Unranked/OnDeck reference list).

February 14, 2009 11:53: Dimensions Financials is the newest entry in the core banking systems 'vendor of interest' listings with a full-page summary about this subsidiary of the Indian Dimensions group and the latest 'eFin' Core Banking Dimensions and Islamic Banking Dimensions browser-based products.

February 11, 2009 14:52: Today we were asked for a reference/review on Fidelity Corebank for a SE Asian bank. We know the history a bit (IBM IFW FSDM-based) and some Blue Phoenix connected Copenhagen-based development. It has been taken up in Japan by a couple of banks. It can be delivered in a J2EE environment on either UNIX pSeries or mainframe zSeries, or in COBOL on the mainframe zSeries platform. But what else?

February 11, 2009 12:34: Intertech was today posted as a core banking systems 'vendor of interest' with a summary page write-up about the Turkish business and their inter-Next integrated banking platform (.NET Microsoft platform). Interestingly, it seems Intertech is controlled by Dexia (a top player in retail banking in Belgium, Luxembourg and Turkey)

February 11, 2009 10:21: An Islamic financing institution in Saudi Arabia contacted us looking for the "most powerful software vendor in Islamic consumer lending software" (?). They are seeking features lists or compliance matrix data on a number of options including Nucleus FinnOne, Polaris Intellect Suite,3i Infotech Kastle Lending and Path iMAL.

February 10, 2009 23:00: A bank in Doha made a direct inquiry to us looking for comparison and review of each these 5 systems for Islamic Banking: Path Solutions - iMAL, Oracle i-Flex - Flexcube, SAP, Infosys - Finacle, TCS BaNCS.

February 8, 2009 7:49: Yesterday's first comparison request was from India for "TCS FS vs Finacle" (TCS BaNCS vs Finacle) , and today's first is from Ghana asking for "globus vs iflex" - a vendor name vs product name and vice versa - we find we provide a cross-referencing resource for system names and vendor brands, as well as a resource for comparing them once the correct name and relationship is clarified.

February 7, 2009 11:05: People looking for core banking software sometimes have trouble with the spelling of some of the vendor and product names that they are looking up on the internet - ref. just today we handled these inquiries "finnercle banking software", "finnacle" and "finacal core banking" - all good attempts at looking up Finacle system by Infosys we assume - and we also have from India a "ranking Fiancle ebanking solution " inquiry.

February 6, 2009 12:57: Two banks requesting comparisons of core banking systems so far today - one from Iran, the other from Sydney.

February 4, 2009 09:46: No prize for guessing what they are thinking... from Brisbane this morning we see these search terms in an inquiry: "has Temenos T24 replaced Fiserv ICBS".

February 4, 2009 11:40: Today's inquiries after comparisons included "avaloq thaler finnova temenos" from London in a private banking context, and "finacle versus flexcube" for a leading bank in India.

February 1, 2009 01:25: "it's only an indicator" | the January 2009 iRanking results are posted and Temenos is back at Number 1 (just ahead of Infosys) after several months in second place | Datapro hit #17 on their first time in the Top 20 based on strong interest in e-IBS | new to the Top 40 are DataVision and Trust Systems as both moved up more than 10 places to #34 and #37 respectively | Polaris seems to have new energy in the market and made it back up to Number 10 after more than a year down lower in the list.

February 1, 2009 00:44: We keep seeing questions like "what is core banking software" or "what are functions in core banking application software?", and search terms seeking a "definition of core banking system" | our definition and response has been in our FAQ Answers page for a couple of years | we are aware the definition changes over time | here is our attempt as of early 2007 (see our current "Core banking system Definition") | if and when we update it, we will post it right there on the FAQ Answers page.

VISITOR BREAKDOWN

Visitor Type breakdown (percentages) from the mostly core banking area of interest traffic data that is tracked in our database:

The breakdown is based on increasing inquiries and visitor numbers overall (see table on the right) and reflects a shift because, as the numbers grow, there are more Consultants and SI's and Banks in the mix, and the number of Vendors has virtually peaked (though Vendor usage and visit traffic increases all the time). It is very satisfying to record growing and regular interest, and use of, our resources by Visitors from all over the globe.
