SlaterLabs etude programme | website defunct 4.2010

* Reports noted in November 2008 indicate that the business entity SLATER SOFT LABORATORIES, S. L. in Spain has been declared insolvent. In lieu of any other pronouncement, this is not a good sign. Our direct inquiries through the website have gone unanswered. It is probably not a good idea to be adding them to any evaluation short-list at present

SlaterLabs  - Etude Programme for core banking | website defunct 4.2010

Overview:

The SlaterLabs business model for core banking solutions is based on the Etude programme. The underlying .NET core banking product is supported by the Etude-Virtuoso, a delivery and maintenance programme that allows customers to evaluate, purchase, implement, enhance and upgrade their software over the internet.

SlaterLabs was set up by ex-IBMer, John Slater, in 2005, after he had sold his previous company, ICT, to Temenos. Slater and ICT were instrumental in bringing the system together for RSI in Spain that formed the basis of TEMENOS high-end retail offering, TEMENOS Corebanking (TCB). Slater is the Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of SlaterLabs. A number of the people in his team of experienced professionals also worked on the original Spanish system.

The main SlaterLabs locations are in Spain and the USA. The company also has an office in Dubai with the intention to integrate Islamic banking requirements in the product early on. Likewise, in Switzerland, the office there will focus on wealth management and investment banking.

Key technology partners include Microsoft and HP, with EDS as an implementation services partner.

Product: Etude Programme for universal banking

The Etude Programme from SlaterLabs is an innovative and collaborative approach for early customers to join the SlaterLabs development team, input their country and specific requirements and prepare their in-house teams for implementations. Post-implementation, SlaterLabs provides on-going country compliance development, enhancements and releases under the Microsoft “Click Once” programme.

The highlights of The Etude Programme are:

SlaterLabs take a lead role in requirements definition to ensure that the level of customisation is minimal.

Technical cross training throughout so that the bank's in-house staff can lead the implementation and integration phases.

First in country charter customers will pay only a monthly fee to cover licenses, development and on-going maintenance – it is expected that this total cost will be less than 50% of the cost of any alternative approach.
