Overview:
The banking software developer group of Mercantile Office Systems (MOS) created Pumori Banking Software which is a complete banking software solution based on a Microsoft platform (Windows) and Microsoft SQL Server. MOS is part of the diversified Mercantile Group, which was found in 1951 and also includes Mercantile Solutions and Mercantile Communications business entities (ref. www.mos.com.np).
Mercantile Office Systems latest release is Pumori Plus III. With Pumori Plus III and coming generations of the software, Mercantile has tried to show that indigenously developed software in Nepal performs up to, or outperforms, the standards of internationally renowned banking software.

Pumori Plus III is an updated version of the popular, proven online banking software Pumori Plus 2.0. Pumori Plus III incorporates new modules in the online, real-time multi-currency banking package to be in par with the latest technology available in the market today while retaining its ease of use, modularity and robustness. Pumori Plus is redesigned and restructured using ADO technology to connect with RDBMS (SQL Server 2000 onwards). Many new features are added including office automation tools in Pumori Plus III.
Main Pumori Plus III Modules:
- Internet Banking: Allows customers of the banks to make transaction through the Internet
- 24 hours Banking: Banking operations can take place even during periodic operations.
- SWIFT Interface: Module to interface with the SWIFT application
- Pumori Data Exchange: Switching software to make it capable to communicate with external systems such as ATM, POS, Smart Card, etc.
Some of the popular add on modules which have been added to their system by the banks are Import/Export L/C, Guarantee, Reconciliation, Telebanking, Any Branch Banking, MIS, Budgeting and Nepal Rastra Bank reporting.
Pumori Plus III (Pumori 3) can be configured in three different database solution configurations: i.e. centralized, distributed and hybrid (combination of centralized and distributed).
Pumori Lite is a downsized version of Pumori Plus III designed for small finance companies and co-operative societies. The software is available in 3-users or 5-users versions. The features required to automate the functions of financial institutions and cooperative societies have been included in Pumori Lite.
