Grupo ASI is a Panamanian corporation that develops software for microfinancial and other banking institutions. Group ASI was founded in 1985 in Panama by Julio Arango, a specialist in financial software applications. Group ASI began its international regional expansion in 1986 and entered the Mexican market in 1993. In 2000 Group ASI entered Costa Rica. In that same year the company was named as a Development Partner of Microsoft. After a strategic realignment of the company in 2004, the company has strengthen its team and systems, raised its competitiveness and increased its target segments. Group ASI serves an extensive portfolio of customers with products and services based on its deep know-how in the business. It has created its own products and registered its own brands.

The main product of Grupo ASI is the ABANKS (or AB@NKS) suite of financial software.

Key products and services relate to the specialized banking core system called ABANKS. The first version was released in 1985 and successive improvements have continued to be incorporated. Group ASI has implemented more than 110 applications in more than 75 financial institutions in Central America, Mexico, South America and the Caribbean. Group ASI also promotes ASP ABANKS, a financial solution that targets small-sized financial services businesses such as microcredit institutions. Such institutions can lack the financial resources to acquire an integrated software solution and need an alternative suitable for their size, budget and operating requirements.

ABANKS is core banking software suite designed especially to meet the needs of smaller financial institutions and the ASP ABANKS version is suited for Microfinance institutions.

ABANKS financial software has a powerful nucleus that securely processes transactions and stores data related to all the operations conducted by an institution. ASI also has a solution that integrates and manages the various channels used by the institution and tools that optimize their processes.

It is made up of over 30 modules.
